Welcome to my first blog post!

Straight out of the gate, I’m pronouncing this now–2019 is going to be MY year!

This is my time for growth and new beginnings. Most of all this is my year to evolve into my true self.

I am not typically one who shares many details about my personal life–except with my long-time client family– However, I did want to share a little bit about my life-changing year in 2018.

At the age of 51, I knew it was time to get a colonoscopy. I made my appointment for my routine colonoscopy on January 31st.–and I went. And then, on February 2nd I received the news. They found a cancerous tumor in my colon.

Cancer.

I can honestly say, hearing this news was the most terrifying thing that I had ever experienced.

In the midst of my frightening journey to eradicating cancer from my body, I had a great amount of support of which I am so grateful for.

Grateful for my husband being there to help me with treatment. I was grateful I had wonderful health insurance. And I was so very grateful to be surrounded by my amazing friends, family, and clients during this trying time of not knowing what the outcome would be.

The good news? I am one of the lucky ones. My treatment was six weeks of radiation and two weeks of chemotherapy. I came close to losing all of my hair and was so fortunate that I did not. I was able to work in between treatments and most people didn’t know I was sick.

On July 5th, 2018, I received the best news of my life! I was in REMISSION! The high from the good news lasted just a few weeks due to the unpredictable circumstances.

On July 20th, 2018, my husband informed me that he wanted to leave our marriage. We have had troubles for years. However, I was truly hoping that by getting through my cancer battle– together– it would have brought us closer and stabilize our relationship. It just didn’t work out that way.

I had two mantras throughout 2018.

“Believe in Yourself.”

This mantra was given to me by my two best friends. I repeated this over and over.

And “Onward and Upward.”

This was was the mantra I decided to live by when I felt I had lost strength in almost every way in 2018. I always believed I was strong. However, the unfortunate events of last year nearly broke me.

I felt as if everything that was important to me was taken away was being taken away. My husband, my dog, any ounce of security I had felt in the past, and my health. It felt beyond overwhelming.

I feel I could not have survived last year without the strength and love I was given by my clients, dear friends, and amazing family (both my immediate family and In-laws)! I am in the rebuilding phase and it feels good to notice myself getting stronger each day!

Ok, here comes the fun stuff!

With my good health, regaining mental and physical strength, excitement and enthusiasm for starting anew, I have decided to re-brand in 2019! My logo and website have a fresh, new, user-friendly look that I’d love for you to check out.

And, I now have an ONLINE booking system!

From the comfort of your home, office or anywhere, you can book services with me online– 24/7. I hope you enjoy this new convenience.

Additionally, I’ve added Square for you to easily ring up transactions. Easy, breezy in 2019.

I’ve added a few new fabulous facial treatments to help rejuvenate tired or dull skin. I say let’s bring on the GLOW! I have also ordered Zemits Skincare System.

I’ll also be offering Diamond Microdermabrasion in the near future! Stay tuned!

Diamond Microdermabrasion is a painless method in esthetic cosmetology which removes dead skin cells with a solid stainless steel dermabrasion wand. When a damaged layer of the epidermis clogs pores, it doesn’t allow collagen to increase its production and can leave skin looking dull, lackluster, and wrinkly. Diamond Microdermabrasion removes that layer and brightens the skin. Plus it minimizes and cleans wide pores as well as stimulate collagen production. Post-treatment, you can expect brighter, clearer skin and the reduction of the appearance of wrinkles. I strongly recommend having Diamond Microdermabrasion prior to an oxygen facial treatment as it will take results to the next level.

Microcurrent with LED light therapy is another treatment offering you’ll soon see at Blush Austin! Microcurrent therapy stimulates tissues with a small, painless, electric pulse. The electric waves result in the production of collagen, elastin, assists with lymphatic drainage, tightens skin, and boosts blood circulation.

Microcurrent in combination with LED light therapy, helps those who struggle with oily skin. It’s also been shown to lighten dark areas under the eyes. Plus it activates the natural enzymatic processes at the cellular level, stimulates the metabolism in tissues, and much more. Microcurrent in combination with LED light therapy can create a real lifting effect along with so many other complexion-enhancing effects. An oxygen infusion can be added to help hydrate and repair the skin after treatment.

I hope you are just as excited about these additions as I am!

Of course, waxing is still my forte’ and I continue to be committed to doing my best in that realm. I also love facials and I can’t wait to be my “own” model for all of these new treatments. I’ll be glowing more right along with my clients!

I am beyond excited for my future! And, I am also beyond grateful for all of you.

Blush Skincare and Waxing is my baby. I can’t wait to see all of the fun, new changes ahead and am so excited to share them with you!

Onward and Upward,

Angie Emerson Chase

P.S. I would like to encourage you to make an appointment and get your colonoscopy done as early as possible. If you or anyone else has questions about anal cancer or colonoscopies, feel free reach out to me for information and support.
